To create a beautiful oil painting on canvas, you need all the perfect material that is required for doing your painting. Oil painting materials are very expensive.  There are large variety of materials that are available from which a person can choose from before began with oil painting.

Mark Marcula Stauffer has given some of the tips that will help a person in choosing good materials for doing oil painting, which are given as:-

For doing oil painting, it is suggested to get good quality hair brushes rather than buying the synthetic brush as good quality hairbrush handles the pigment better than a synthetic hairbrush.

Wax coated paper and throwaway palettes are also needed when doing oil painting. Therefore, it is suggested that you get a disposable palette for doing oil painting. One wax coated paper is used for putting your colors and the other one is used for combining the colors together.

Different oils can easily be mixed with your pigments says Marcula Stauffer.  He further added that a palette knife can also be used while mixing the oil and resins into the pigment. In order to fasten the drying time of the pigments make use of Alkyd resin and  If you are not familiar with alkyd buy a general purpose one until you know which one you want to use.

Other essential materials that are needed for doing oil painting are paint thinner. Mark Marcula Stauffer added that, while using these painting substances makes sure that the smell of the thinner is not too strong because these are not good for the health. He further added that after completing your oil painting wash your brushes carefully. For cleaning up the messes make use of Rags.

Canvas boards are also needed for doing the oil painting practice. Thus, prepare your canvas and buy through an art shop.
